Today's PORCELAIN CROWNS are much stronger and more esthetic than they used to be!! The porcelain material used by Dr Galli, called EMAX, is about four times stronger than the older version. It has esthetic qualities which closely match natural teeth, so it looks better than your stained, cracked, worn ones!! Also, there is no dark metal used underneath, which used to leave a dark line around the gums.
Teeth with large fillings, cracks, or wear sometimes need new enamel. Wouldn't that be neat if we could take off the old enamel and put new enamel on? Well, we can!! A crown is a custom made porcelain shell that fits over the top of your tooth to reinforce and rebuild those weaknesses or lost tooth structure. At Galli Family Dentistry, they are made without any dark metal or materials that cause staining or allergic reaction in the gums.
